Fire Water Storage Tank Maintenance & Repairs

Fire Boar was tasked with the 10-yearly service and maintenance of five fire water storage tanks in compliance with Australian Standard AS1851-2012. The scope of works involved a range of repairs, inspections, and upgrades to ensure the continued functionality and safety of the tanks.

Technical Achievements:

• Tank Repairs & Upgrades
  • Supply and installation of tank base wall sheets for five tanks, including wall panels and access escape hatch panels for each tank to ensure structural integrity.
  • Installation of tank level gauges for Tanks 2 & 3, improving monitoring and operational efficiency.
  • Cleaning of tank interiors as per the 10-yearly maintenance requirements, ensuring tanks are free from debris, buildup, and vermin.
  • Recharge and test of the water supply system, including extensive leak testing until no leaks were found, ensuring the system is fully operational.
• Specialized Labor & Equipment
  • Provision of two qualified tank technicians with CSE/WAH training to ensure safety during the cleaning and repair process.

Challenges Overcome:

• Tank Downtime Management – Coordinated the cleaning and repairs while the tanks were offline and empty, ensuring minimal disruption to operational timelines.
• Leak Prevention – Ensured a thorough recharge and testing process to detect and eliminate any leaks, guaranteeing long-term tank reliability.
• Health & Safety Compliance – Employed experienced technicians and provided proper safety protocols (CSE/WAH) to safely carry out the maintenance in confined spaces.

• 12-month material and workmanship warranty provided, ensuring that the repairs and installations are guaranteed for quality and durability.
• Comprehensive cleaning and housekeeping of workspaces, including the pump room and booster cabinet, ensuring a safe and clean environment post-maintenance.
