Fire System Upgrade for Compliance with AS1670.1

Fire Boar successfully upgraded the fire detection and emergency systems to ensure compliance with AS1670.1, enhancing safety measures across the site. The project involved significant improvements to the addressable smoke and thermal detection system, as well as updates to fire alarm and suppression equipment.

Technical Achievements:

• Addressable Smoke & Thermal Detectors
  • Installed 32 new addressable smoke detectors with sounder bases for comprehensive coverage.
  • Added 11 new addressable thermal detectors with sounder bases, improving detection in key areas.
  • Installed 15 concealed space detectors with remote indicators for hard-to-reach areas, ensuring full detection coverage.
  • Relocated 40 existing smoke detectors to align with the new building layout, optimizing system performance.
• Fire Alarm & Suppression Enhancements
  • Installed 4 new addressable sounders in balcony areas for effective alarm distribution.
  • Installed 27 new fire trip relays to improve system responsiveness and control.
  • Added new fire extinguishers and fire blankets across the site, enhancing fire safety protocols.

Challenges Overcome:

• Relocation and Reconfiguration – Successfully relocated 40 smoke detectors and 8 thermal detectors to suit the updated layout, ensuring minimal disruption to existing fire protection systems.
• Integration of New Equipment – Reprogrammed the Fire Indicator Panel (FIP) to integrate the new addressable devices and ensure seamless operation with the updated system.
• Concealed Space Detection – Overcame the complexity of installing concealed space detectors with remote indicators, ensuring compliance and functionality without requiring additional brackets.

Deliverables & Compliance:

• As-installed drawings, Form 12, and O&M manuals provided, ensuring complete documentation for the client.
• Full testing and commissioning of the system to ensure compliance, reliability, and safety.
